What liquid can I use to take paint off of wood?

I have this tea box thing a it's made of wood i want to make it into a little house for my mouse but there's paint on it to like tell you what kind of tea it is you know but i want to take the paint off so it will lok pretty so can somebody tell me how I can do that?
