How Do You Know If A Person Has Metal Problems?

My friend has been married for 8 years now, She and her husband don'nt get along at all. I think it;s becuse shae has a really hardtime taking directions from a man because her father was'nt really in her life he was very abusive to her mother. I really love her very much, but enough is enough she is very very mean to her husband. And I think it has alot to do with the past shae cannot let go. Does she have mental proble. PLESE MY FRIEND NEEDS HELP ASAP.
