Can someone answer my child support questions.?

I have an 8 month old daughter. I am not currently working because I am a full time student in Nursing School. I have clinicals and cl time which leaves me with no time to be able to work go to school and take care of my daughter. My boyfriend works and he lives with his mom. I live with my parents as well. He will stay over here sometimes during the week to help with her and whenever he wants her he can come and get her etc. It's still a good situation. We are not "together" but we are still talking. I needed Medicaid for myself and my daugher for doctors visits medications etc... I therefore had to fill out a form to take him to court for child support. If i don't really want the child support or if I am just getting the child support so that my daugher and I can keep the medicaid how would that work? Are the courts going to try and take my daughter because i'm not working and he is? I live off my student loans and I have money saved up. He does give me money when I need it, but the DSS office told me that it doesn't matter it had to be court ordered. What's going to happen and how is this going to affect me?
